Vision Yoga for Screen Fatigue
It’s said that over 50% of the human brain is involved in visual processing, but we rarely do anything to take care of our vision. We brush our teeth and exercise, but we don’t do much for our eyesight, beyond visiting the optician.
Most people are spending many hours looking close into bright blue artificial light. It’s not surprising that our eyesight is getting worse and many people are suffering from Digital Eye Strain. Digital eye strain is a common issue associated with prolonged screen use; the symptoms include:
dry eyes
tension headaches
blurry vision
mental fatigue
neck & shoulder tension
I’m a yoga teacher but I end up spending quite a lot of time looking at a screen, nowadays it’s hard to avoid! I shop on my mobile and right now, I’m writing this blog on my laptop. Before embarking on my natural vision journey, I suffered from digital eye strain, and my eyesight was steadily getting worse every year. Because I didn’t know how to take care of my eyes, I simply ignored it!
Now, my eyes are healthier than they’ve ever been, and it’s even helped to improve my concentration and to get better sleep. It’s empowering to know how to take care of my eyes and mind. We commonly associate old age with worsening eyesight, but this doesn’t have to be. I know many elderly natural vision teachers and practitioners that have great vision. Furthermore, their memory is excellent, and they have maintained keen interest in life. Their eyes are literally sparkling!
Vision Yoga techniques are simple and accessible – anyone can learn how to do it and it’s never too late to start. I believe it’s these are vital skills for the digital era. I’m very excited to be sharing these techniques in my upcoming events.
There will be two Vision Yoga for Screen Fatigue sessions at the Bristol Yoga Centre in November:
Friday 7th November from 12:15- 1pm A short taster session (In Person & live online available)
Saturday 8th November from 11-1pm A longer in-depth workshop
I’m also running some other interesting events including a Vision Yoga talk at the Theosophical Lodge and Mindful Seeing sessions at the Arnolfini.
Come along and find out more.
